Bardie is a Columbus native with roots in the area that date back many generations. She attributes her positive approach to her upbringing, where she was encouraged to take an active role in the community. Bardie’s biggest achievement was helping found the Bridges Learning Center for children with Autism—children just like her own son Lawson. When he was diagnosed with the disease, there was nowhere in town for them to turn. Bardie and her husband, Rem, took matters into their own hands, found specialized therapists and organized Bridges.

	Nothing is more important to Bardie than her family.

It started with Lawson and one other student in a study room at the local library, but quickly grew into a full learning center with its own facilities and a full staff of therapists—specialists in physical, occupational, speech and behavioral therapy. Now, more than 20 children are part of the program. “To see the progress my son and so many other kids have made over the years is truly amazing,” Bardie says. “It’s very rewarding to have been a part of this center since the beginning.”
